At current funding levels the main focus of our centre’s work is phone advice and referral, community education, including outreach work, and law reform activities. It is hoped that more funding will be acquired in the reasonably foreseeable future to enable the centre to represent more clients and handle a range of casework.

The centre also publishes a range of culturally sensitive leaflets on domestic violence, sexual assault, victim’s compensation and family law aimed at the Aboriginal community. (see factsheets)

Another initiative will be to lobby government to train and recruit Aboriginal women for key positions in government services with the aim of improving the quality of government services for Aboriginal women.

Intrinsic to the centre’s objectives is the raising of cultural awareness of other community legal centres in respect of the Aboriginal community.
